From One Truck to a Fleet
Sparking Growth with Predictive AI
The Rundown
This Phoenix Electrician wanted to expand. When we started, they had 2 trucks, 14 reviews, few listings online, were going on jobs and not getting bids, and had zero commercial leads. They wanted to increase leads for commercial jobs, link the website with AI Engines, and improve their online reputation. They expressed that they were open to opportunities to expand into other locations.
Goals
-
Start a consistent stream of new residential customers
-
Get leads for commercial bids
-
Add 2 truck per year
-
Improve online reputation
-
Link website with AI Engines
-
Strategy
First, we were going to verify, optimize, and actively manage Google My Business. Next, we created and optimized the Yelp profile an verified the company information was consistent on multiple online directories. Then we sent QR codes to the office manager so that employees could use these in the field.
We worked with the client to develop a process that allowed the customer to leave a review during the time they are happiest - after reviewing the work - before the point of sale. The process flows like this:
-
Techs show the customer the work, ask if there’s anything else, before they go back to their truck and fill out the invoice
-
Customer agrees that the job is done, then our techs ask for the review, and provide the customer with QR codes linking to our channels
-
Our tech spends their time filling out the invoice, preparing to receive payment
-
A smiling technician approaches the customer for payment
-
After payment transaction, the technician offers fridge magnet and other branded leave-behinds
-
We get most of our reviews during those couple of minutes the tech is filling out the invoice
-
Process helped Simple Electric go from from14 reviews to almost 1,000
Next, we focused on website speed. We increase page speed on all website pages. Using Google Analytics and Search Console data we changed website keywords, created a new website navigation flow, and added structured data to the website.
Lastly, we layer in Google Ads, Google Local Service Ads, Facebook ads, Bing Ads, and Yelp Ads. Implementing paid ads allowed us to focus on high margin services and protect our brand name.
Based on our message testing, we found the “free estimate” and “friendly electricians” got the best click through rates. The free estimate click through rate was almost 3x higher.
We have run campaigns for commercial electricians in the past but had a difficult time finding the target market. This time we used Google Ads Keyword Predictive AI to help. It identified words that we had not tested, example, “electrical build outs”. Having tested these words on paid ads channels several times in the past, we did not run a control campaign.
Obstacles
-
Had to create a method for linking with AI Engines
-
Customer had few reviews
-
The business started in a city saturated with other highly regarded, well-branded electricians
-
Local citizens were already attached to Existing brands. Existing firms already had strong presence on Facebook, Yelp, and Google. Existing firms had strong connections with Commercial Office Space and General Contractors.

Results
Predictive AI pointed us towards new high-margin keywords that we tested in the paid ads campaigns. This proved to be a key factor in identifying the words people were using to find commercial contractors in Arizona.
In 30 days it was reported that the commercial phone calls were increasing. After 3 full quarters running the commercial campaign that was created using Google’s predictive AI, commercial sales had more than doubled. They went from 2 trucks to 7 an increase of 250%.
